SMS Opt-In Policy
Joyce only contacts people who reach out first. No marketing. No bulk messages. One-to-one human-guided support โ only when you initiate.
Last updated: June 2026
๐How Opt-In Works
TheJoyc.org does not collect phone numbers through marketing lists, promotional campaigns, or unsolicited outreach. A person opts in to receive SMS communication by contacting Joyce first โ through one of the following paths:
If an individual sends a text message to a Joyce companion number, that inbound SMS constitutes direct opt-in consent. Joyce may reply with one-to-one conversational support messages related to that conversation.
If an individual places an inbound phone call to a Joyce companion number, that call constitutes implied consent to receive a one-time or limited conversational SMS reply related to that specific call or inquiry.
If an individual submits a web form on TheJoyc.org that includes their phone number alongside a clearly visible, unchecked consent checkbox โ such as "By submitting, I agree to receive a reply from Joyce. Msg & data rates may apply." โ that submission constitutes explicit opt-in consent.
In all cases: Joyce never initiates contact. The individual always reaches out first.
๐Message Flow
- 1An individual reaches out to TheJoyc.org by sending an SMS, placing a phone call, or submitting a web form.
- 2Joyce sends a one-to-one, human-guided reply directly related to that individual's outreach and their grief support conversation.
- 3All subsequent messages remain conversational, one-to-one, and tied to the individual's ongoing engagement with Joyce.
- 4No further messages are sent once the conversation ends, unless the individual re-initiates contact.
